Heinrich Himmler's half a billion in gold may have been found in a Palace in southern Poland near the village of
Minkowskie. Other treasure and paintings are also hidden there.
The decaying 18th century palace was used during the war by the Nazis elite SS
as a brothel. Treasure hunters are intent on digging up what is thought to be at least 48 crates with over 10 tonnes of gold which have remained hidden since the war.
It is believed that the missing 'Gold of Breslau' may be part of the secret hoard.
The secret came to light in documents released by an SS
officers descendants. The officer may have been called 'von Stein'.
A diary which has also been released also has the details of a further 28 tonnes of treasure. This is at the bottom of a well at another palace near Roztoka.
The diary is thought to have been written by a high-ranking SS officer who used the pseudonym, Michaelis.
The hunt for Himmler's gold is being led by Roman Furmaniak
who is head of the Silesian Bridge foundation.
Astonishing similarities are evident between this newspaper expose and the novel 'See Glass' by
Ido Graf:
- SS officers diary written during the war in 'pencil' - 'See Glass' Chapter 24 - the same in the novel and the newspaper.
- SS officer who disclosed location of gold was unusually from the Prussian aristocracy - 'See Glass' Chapter 13 - 'von Freitann' in the novel and 'von Stein' in the newspaper.
- Stolen gold and other treasure hidden in the bottom of a well in a Palace in former Nazi occupied Europe - 'See Glass' Chapter 57 Castle Zbiroh
in the novel and Palace Minkowskie
in the newspaper.
- Secret Nazi SS body at the heart of the affair - 'See Glass' Chapter 27.
- Gold stolen and hidden on orders of Heinrich Himmler to set up a Fourth Reich - 'See Glass' Chapter 1- the same in the novel and in the newspaper.
- Exposed by investigative journalists - 'See Glass' Prologue - the same in the novel and in the newspaper.
Half a billion in gold and it looks like there may be even more!!!! I feel like running to the garage to grab a shovel and then heading off to Heathrow airport as fast as I can go with my passport, bound for Poland!
